Big Eyes, 2014

Tim Burton’s 2014 biopic retells the life of the artist Margaret Keane during the 1960’s whose husband, Walter Keane took credit for her painting of waif like children with the known feature of ‘Big Eyes’. The film stars Amy Adams as Margaret, and Christopher Waltz as Walter as the film takes the audience through Margaret’s separation from her first husband, and hurried marriage to Walter, and eventually the secret she had to keep from even her daughter, to protect the empire that Walter had created.

Beginning in 1958, although the actual year was 1955, Margaret marries Walter and endures 10 years of marriage before things turn for the worse, where the films begins to retell Margaret’s courage to admit that the waif’s are her work and to take Walter to court, where the judge finds that the only way to find out the truth is a paint off.

With Amy Adams and Christopher Waltz’s authentic and genuine acting skills, the couple depict the struggle of a woman wanting to speak and nothing coming out, next to a dramatic and delusional dominating husband, dragging plagiarism out for many years and never admitting the truth.
