PERSPECTIVE

With having previously done an OCA course in drawing skills, I have come across several types of perspective, and personally drew the basic perspective of the Royal Armouries museum at Leeds. Drawing perspective for a painting can take time, but when distance and foreshortening are achieved in the sketching, a painting can have accuracy and depth. I have often noticed that if the perspective had not been drawn well where there should be perspective (as some artists purposely ignore perspective) a piece can have an awkward appearance. The video below is an excellent example of the basics of perspective within buildings, landscapes and the sky, and also touches on foreshortening and so before Part Four, I am sure that I will be revisiting this video on how to achieve vanishing points and foreshortening.
