Project 2, Exercise- Successive contrast

As recommended in this exercise, I experimented with staring at a red swatch of acrylic, and indeed saw green after 30 seconds of staring at red. I had always noticed that staring at a colour for a long time produced a kind of hazy colour but had never noticed that it was it’s complementary colour, and after having seen blue after staring at orange, it confirmed that the colour one sees is definitely the subjects complementary colour.

I must say this was possibly the shortest exercise I have ever done, but I did learn something new which in art made the 5 minute exercise and advisable one for teaching any student about colours and how we see them.
